Day 4 of 21
1 Samuel 12:16 Now then, stand still and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your eyes!
Growing up I loved watching magic tricks. And I must admit, they still intrigue me. When I was in the fifth grade, I was called to the stage at our elementary school to assist the magician at our school assembly. He picked me out of the crowd and said because he had been told I had some magic skills. I have to be honest, that was so not true. I tried but my efforts and even card tricks looked silly. But anyway, maybe I had hidden potential and he saw it.
I went to the stage and he blew up a balloon and placed in on the some kind of prop. I waved the wand over it and suddenly it popped and a pigeon appeared. That’s right. I made a pigeon appear from a balloon. I thought I was the next David Copperfield.
No matter how close I watch, the tricks performed by magicians are still very mysterious to me. But then again, that’s the intent. However, no matter how real it seems and how mind blowing it may be, it’s still just a trick.
But with God, He isn’t working magic, but working on and in us. He is trying to teach us. Unlike a magician, He is involved in our lives and knows what we need. Matthew 6:8 says “Our father knows what we need before we even ask Him.”
Be encouraged today, especially if you are facing the impossible or most difficult of times. Matthew 19:26 reminds us that “With God all things are possible!”
Take a moment and be still before the Lord. Believe that God is at work in your life and watch Him do the impossible right before your eyes. He is not a magician. He is our God and He loves us most and loves us best.
