Day 2 of 21
Psalm 37:7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently on Him.
In the words of Sweet Brown, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”
As comical as that may sound, it is so true. The “be still” part isn’t too bad but it became all messed up when the writer tells us to “wait patiently.” Think about how terrible we are at being patient. Not too long ago, you had to push 1:00 on the microwave to cook your food for one minute. Now, we press Express Minute which means three less buttons. It could only be for one of two reasons. One, we don’t have time to press three more buttons and we are thankful to the brilliant minds that saved us that one second on our day. Or, we psychologically think that an “express minute” will be faster than sixty seconds. I actually think an express minute should be faster than sixty seconds.
Either way, patience isn’t our best virtue. But since the Lord knows me best and loves me most, I’m doing my best to “be still and wait patiently for Him.” I’m pretty sure, actually very sure, He knows what He is doing with my life. And I trust Him.
