Every morning without fail, right after taking my daughter to school, I prop up the recliner to read and study for a few moments. My dog Oreo jumps up in the recliner and within moments is asleep and snoring like crazy. He is sawing some logs while I type this. If you listen closely you may be able to hear him.
You may be thinking “Who cares?” I am even thinking it a little. But there is a simple thought that came to mind this morning. My dog Oreo can sleep and snore all day long because he knows someone is going to take care of him. He will be fed and have water to drink. He will move freely from one cushion to another.
I realize our pets don’t have the worries of life like us humans. But like our pets, we have someone who promises to take care of us. No, we can’t sleep and snore all day, but as we go through the motions of our day, no matter what we face, we have the promise of His presence and we need not fear.
Think about these few Scriptures.
Matthew 6:24-27 – Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
1 Peter 5:7 – Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
Hebrews 13:5 – I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.
As you go through your day, consider my snoring dog. Don’t worry or fret. God is with you and no one cares more for you than Him. Relax and trust Him.
One last verse. Isaiah 48:17 – I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the path you should follow.
Allow Him to teach and lead you today. Refuse to settle to fear and worry! God has got this!
